Have questions about handstands? See my handstand articles below and please send me your own questions if you have any!

Håndstand (DK), handstand (EN), equilibre (FR), parada de manos (SP). Many names for the beloved practice of inverting on hands. However, many approaches to this amazing art are perfectionist, painful, stringent and frankly boring. I don’t dig.

I’m Peter Hunter and began my handstand journey in 2010, when I met and learned from Didier Oberlé, a french acrobat. I’ve since learned from many different kinds of teachers (gymnastics, movement, partner acrobatics), been upside down in an entire music video, and had the pleasure of teaching quite a few people what I know.

While I do love hard work and recognize the value of physical preparation, I think curiosity, courage, playfulness and other soft values are just as important. I’m not dogmatic, but pragmatic in my approach; inclusive rather than exclusive; skill-focused rather than alignment- focused; and I really appreciate the mental side of practicing handstands.

  • I coach handstands one-to-one both in person and online. Feel free to contact me if you want my support on your handstand journey. Prices follow my physiotherapy rates.

  • If you want to meet me upside down, a low-cost place to start is my weekly Rört Handstand class.
